Trusting the Timing: Embracing Patience and Progress in Your Mental Health Journey

Published on 21 October 2024 at 13:00

When I was brainstorming ideas (with a little help), this affirmation popped up, and it really vibed with me. It’s something I struggle with, but I want to share anyways! I think it’s important to let y’all know that I’m not perfect—and I never will be. If we were meant to be perfect, we wouldn’t be here, right?

We all have our struggles, some tougher than others, but we hold on and hope for better days ahead. I often find myself wanting things to be different right now—not just material things, but the life I envision for myself. While I'm excited about the progress I'm making, I sometimes wish I could have it all at once.

I’m VERY dedicated to finishing my bookkeeping certification, and I carve out time for studying that. Plus, I’m pouring my heart into my blog and digital products, which I hope you all are loving!

I know I want less stress in my life, and I believe that learning these new skills will help me achieve that. But patience is not my strong suit. That’s when I remind myself: “Hey, you’ve come way farther than you ever have before, and you’re more motivated than you've every been." It’s about taking the time to recognize how much progress I’ve made—progress that wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t started.

So, while our journeys may not move as fast as we’d like, that’s okay. We’re not going to get everything handed to us on a silver platter. We work for the things we want, and that’s what makes the journey worthwhile.

I am exactly where I need to be, and I trust the timing of my life.

I absolutely love this affirmation! It’s one I’ve come across before, and it often pops up when I’m having a bad day—when it feels like nothing is progressing. But in reality, it always is, and so are you.

Let’s take a closer look at the first part of the affirmation: “I am exactly where I need to be.” This is a reminder for us to accept the present moment and to live in the now. We shouldn’t worry about the future; let’s take it one day at a time. That’s always good advice, and I need to remind myself of that more often! We can never get back the day we had, so why waste it worrying about tomorrow?

Now, onto the second part: “I trust the timing of my life.” I know we sometimes wish things would move faster, but life doesn’t always operate on our timeline—and that’s okay. Remember, you’re not alone in this. Worrying about today won’t change what happens tomorrow. Things will unfold as they are meant to, regardless of how much we stress about them. So why not try to go with the flow as much as possible?

That’s where I find the beauty in affirmations. As an overthinker, I often get caught up in past regrets or future anxieties, making it hard to enjoy the present. If there’s something I have to do tomorrow, it’ll be on my mind until I get to it. I wish I could just park those worries for later and deal with them when the time comes. But it’s something I’m actively working on!

So, if you’re feeling the weight of impatience today, take a deep breath. You’re doing the best you can, and that’s more than enough. Every step forward—no matter how small—counts. Trust that you are making progress, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now. You’ve got this!

Why It’s Important to Practice Patience

Practicing patience is essential because nothing worthwhile comes to us in life instantly—unless we’re incredibly lucky! Most of the time, achieving our goals requires hard work, and with that hard work comes the necessity of patience. I’ve found that dedicating time to my blog and studying bookkeeping is something that will benefit my future self immensely.

Setting aside time to focus on what truly matters is crucial. I make sure to carve out time for my blog and my digital products, as well as dedicated slots for learning bookkeeping. Think about the areas in your life where you’re making space for the things that truly matter. Prioritizing what’s important can make a significant difference.

So, keep pushing forward, whether you're working on your mental health, improving your financial situation, or pursuing any personal goal. You will get there, even if it doesn’t happen overnight. That’s perfectly okay! I know it can be a constant battle with the mind, especially when negativity creeps in. When that happens, try to shut down those negative thoughts and remind yourself of the progress you’re making.

Patience is not just about waiting; it’s about maintaining a positive mindset and trusting the journey. Every step—no matter how small—brings you closer to your goals. How are you practicing patience during this journey? Remember, it’s all part of the process!

The Challenges of Trusting the Process

Ah, trusting the process—what a concept! I do trust the journey, but let’s be real: I’m often impatient. It feels like life sometimes doesn’t move fast enough when it comes to reaching my goals. Those days when something knocks me down, leaving me feeling like the shittiest person on the planet, can be especially challenging. Climbing out of that emotional hole is not exactly a walk in the park!

Right now, I’m grappling with impatience. My emotions are getting the better of me, and I find myself frustrated with where I’m at. It’s easy to feel like I’m falling short in my blogging and studying, even though I know I’m making progress. Just a year ago, I never imagined I’d have a blog, be creating digital products, or even be learning anything about accounting. HA!

To navigate these feelings, I keep affirmations close. They serve as gentle reminders that we don’t need to accomplish everything all at once. In fact, there’s an affirmation for nearly every aspect of life! While growth may not always be visible in the moment, it’s crucial to remember that it’s happening. Reflecting on how far you’ve come can be incredibly empowering. Just take a moment to look back and say, “Hell yeah, I’ve come farther than I think!”

And trust me—you really have.

Tips to Embrace the Affirmation in Daily Life

Incorporating the affirmation into your daily routine can be a powerful way to foster patience and trust in your journey. Here are a couple of simple yet effective tips to help you embrace this affirmation as you navigate life’s ups and downs.

1. Start Your Day with Intention:
When you're getting ready in the morning, take a moment to pause. Breathe deeply a few times to help settle your mind and body. Then, repeat the affirmation once or twice. This simple ritual not only sets a positive tone for your day but also serves as a gentle reminder that "You got this!" It’s a small but powerful way to cultivate self-belief as you navigate the day ahead.

2. Reflect on Your Journey:
Now, let’s talk about those moments when impatience creeps in and life feels like it’s moving too slowly. When that happens, grab your journal and reflect on your journey. Take some time to list out all the things you've accomplished over the last 6 to 12 months. I promise you, unless you’ve been completely stagnant (which I highly doubt!), you’ll uncover a wealth of growth and progress. Recognizing how far you’ve come can be incredibly motivating, reminding you that the journey may be winding, but it’s always moving forward.

By weaving these practices into your life, you'll not only reinforce the affirmation but also nurture a sense of patience and trust in your own process. Remember, it's all about progress, not perfection!

Conclusion

In the end, remember that our journeys are uniquely ours—full of twists, turns, and lessons learned along the way. It’s perfectly normal to feel frustrated or impatient at times, but try to embrace the winding path that is your life. We often see others’ successes and think they’ve figured it all out, but everyone faces their own challenges.

Trust that even when the road feels bumpy, you are right where you need to be. Each step, no matter how small, is part of your growth. So let’s celebrate our progress together, support one another, and keep moving forward, knowing that we are never alone in this journey.
